With seven years of experience in general office tail wagging, Sam has recently been promoted to Chief Morale Officer, a job he excels at.
Our office would not be the same without him; if you ever visit the office, he’ll ensure you are given a warm welcome!
David Nicholls
Managing Director
Dave is the one who keeps things moving forward. Since setting up in 2004, he has constantly been on the lookout for the very best technology. He loves anything techie, security and collaboration based and the process of making them work in perfect harmony. With his Army background, he is the best man to lead his team. Don’t be fooled though, he’s as soft as anything and treats his team to a nice pizza every last Thursday.
Dave is a father to two young children and spends his weekends riding them around on bikes or hidden somewhere in soft play. We’re not too sure who enjoys it the most! Dave can also be found mixing words up. Like Cyber Help to Hyber Celp and Joe Bloggs to…. yes that was awkward live on a webinar. Easy mistake Dave.
Paul Fletcher
IT Operations Manager
Paul is highly adept at leading large teams, a skill he honed during his 12 years in the British Army. As a profound believer in training and teamwork, he also leads our team partnered with Dave. With the day-to-day running of the company’s operations, he is the one to get things done.
Paul is a keen runner and often opts in for charity work, allowing him to display his running skills. Surprisingly, although fit, Paul is like that child that won’t eat anything green and will spot the smallest onion in the biggest burger. In Paul’s spare time, when he isn’t picking onions out of burgers, he spends time with his 3-year-old daughter. Apparently, she likes dressing him up in her tiara, and it’s absolutely nothing to do with him. We believe you.
Hayley Mollett
Marketing Co-ordinator
With a business background, Hayley has developed products from start to finish. Seeing drawings through to retail, Hayley has an eye for detail and a knowledge of what it takes to progress a business.
Her love for tidiness, neatness and efficiency definitely comes in handy. Hayley is currently studying Counselling and Psychology, so she is always looking for the reason why behind everything.
As an ex-Sunday league footballer, in Hayley’s spare time, she follows Leicester City both home and away (someone’s got to, I guess). She and her partner have four children, which can keep her very busy and possibly the reason she enjoys a glass or two of wine most nights. She loves all things food and travels a lot. Most of her travels are based around where the best place to eat is.
Daniel Powell
IT Solutions Architect
Dan is our IT Project Manager and an absolute wizard when it comes to technology. Bring the topic of conversation to Microsoft 365 and the Microsoft Cloud Offering, and you will very quickly realise three things. 1: Dan is passionate about M365 and Azure. 2: He can do very clever things with this environment 3: He wants all existing and new clients to benefit from his skills and enthusiasm. Dan will happily provide if you need more information, probably in his new favourite medium of Loom videos.
Dan is a gym addict in his spare time and will always be found in a pair of shorts. He is married with two little children. Both have banned him from playing Mario Kart because he is unbeatable, and with tears in their eyes, he just won’t let them win. He once completed Rainbow Road in the most difficult setting. We have a feeling this is his proudest achievement. Let the kids win, Dan; let them win.
Alex Nicol
Technical Account Manager
Alex is an incredibly talented technician and a genuinely lovely guy. He will be in charge of everything communications, and if an issue requires a technician to come to your office, you’ll likely meet Alex. You can have complete faith that you will be up and running rapidly – and if he has time, you may even experience his legendary tea-making abilities!
Alex is married with two daughters. He is also a School Governor, member of the local PCC, secretary of a pantomime troupe, and enjoys reading and walking. He loves cooking and will never say no to a Raspberry Pi. Alex has a soft spot for cats unless they are walking across his laptop!
Jamie Urquhart
Senior Technician
Behind a quiet, unassuming, pleasant, customer-focused façade, Jamie is one of THOSE technicians who are only satisfied when the ”why?” has been answered. If something happens, he will deep-dive until he has got to the root of the problem, fixed it, and, knowing Jamie, written a script to add to our management suite to make sure we know about it before you do.
Jamie is America-obsessed. When he isn’t wrapped up in all things American, Jamie is a hardcore gamer and enjoys target and clay pigeon shooting. He also has a strong interest in Astronomy.
If you ever have a problem and need to call us, Elzi is one of the first ports of call on your journey to help. We brought Elzi to Better-IT for two reasons – firstly, she is very technically gifted, and secondly, she loves helping clients.
Elzi was becoming a self-taught gardener and had followed you-tube videos (these days, it means you’re practically qualified). After becoming proud of her potting and growing plants, Elzi got Coco, the rabbit. The rest, unfortunately, is history. Elzi is now searching for a new hobby.
Behind the scenes is Steph Jones, who keeps on top of our accounts. Steph is a qualified bookkeeper with over 16 years of experience and a member of The International Association of Bookkeepers.
Steph moved to the UK in 2008 from South Africa and enjoys keeping busy. In her spare time, Steph enjoys painting, taking photos, walking, sewing and making soap. Steph is usually quite serious, but her humourous side comes out when she is tired. It quickly goes again if we do not get our invoices in!
Michael McHugo

With over eight years of experience within the Communications, IT and Connectivity Sectors, Michael really understands the challenges Businesses and Public Sector Organisations face with digital transformation.
Michael has a passion for problem-solving and delivering bespoke solutions to meet customers’ needs, with a focus towards maximising how technology can support your employers with their day-to-day and how you can continue to engage with your customers through the channels you wish.
Outside of the office, Michael enjoys following Birmingham City, playing football and trying to get around a Golf Course without losing a ball. Outside of sports, his dog, Mabel, keeps him fairly busy.
Bill Hefford
Client Relationship Manager
With an impressive 14 years of experience in the ever-mysterious world of IT, Bill has conquered more technical conundrums than your average Techie.
For the past seven years, Bill has immersed himself in the realm of Managed Service Providers (MSPs), where he possesses a unique ability to bridge the gap between technicians and end users. Through his effective communication and problem-solving skills, he effortlessly translates complex technical concepts into understandable language for everyone involved.
When he’s not immersed in the world of technology, Bill enjoys a fulfilling personal life. He shares his days with his wife and two daughters. Adding to the joyous chaos, they also have two furry companions, the family’s four-legged members.
In addition to his IT prowess, Bill has a hidden talent on the field. He tackled American Football in the UK national leagues for an impressive decade. Although he has retired his helmet, his passion for the game burns bright as he remains an unwavering supporter of the Buffalo Bills.
Samantha Taylor

With her natural organisational skills and unwavering self-motivation, Samantha brings a wealth of expertise in both Business-to-business (B2B) and Business-to-consumer (B2C) sales.
But Samantha’s talents don’t stop there. When she’s not conquering the sales world, she unleashes her creativity through thrilling DIY projects. She’s a true maestro of transformation, from upcycling furniture to crafting stunning garden planters out of old pallets.
In her spare time, you’ll often find her socialising, cherishing the company of loved ones, with a glass of wine…or two. With a 12-year-old boy by her side and a ginger cat as her accomplice, she is ready to conquer any challenge that comes her way.
