Railway Project Services Case Study Introduction In the fast-paced world of technology, having the right tools and features is crucial for businesses to stay competitive. For Railway Project Services (RPS), their choice of Microsoft 365 provider was hindering their productivity and control over their own domain. This blog post explores the challenges they faced with GoDaddy and how Better IT stepped in to transform their experience by switching them to Microsoft 365, resulting in improved efficiency and complete control. The Problem RPS had initially opted for GoDaddy as their Microsoft 365 provider. However, they soon discovered that GoDaddy’s approach to federation and administration restricted their ability to acquire licenses from other providers and exert control over their own tenant. This lack of control was a significant obstacle for RPS, as they needed a solution that offered flexibility and customisation to suit their specific needs. Process Traditionally, transitioning away from GoDaddy had been a cumbersome process for businesses. It involved lengthy discussions with GoDaddy support, often spanning hours. In order to defederate the domain, RPS had to be cautious, as GoDaddy would delete all user accounts and data. Therefore, they had to ensure the migration of their emails to a new Microsoft 365 tenant prior to executing the cutover. This transition process frequently caused downtime, which was highly undesirable for RPS. Solution Recognising the challenges faced by RPS, Better IT took charge of the defederation process. Their expertise and hands-on approach resulted in a seamless transition, enabling RPS to regain control and enjoy a host of benefits without the need for a full tenant-to-tenant migration. Benefits of Switching to Microsoft 365 Conclusion The switch from GoDaddy to Microsoft 365 proved to be a game-changer for Railway Project Services. Better IT’s expertise and dedication empowered RPS to regain control of their tenant, while also providing enhanced features and flexibility. The successful transition resulted in improved productivity and efficiency for RPS, setting them on a path of continued growth and success. “It has been a pleasure working with Dan Powell and the whole Better-IT team in this process, and we couldn’t be happier with how the transition to a fully managed service has gone. We look forward to the rest of 2023 with Better-IT and can’t wait to see what next year brings.” Joe Whalen -RPS Switching Service Providers
